- One of the best definitions of success was given years ago by motivational speaker and thought leader Paul J. Meyer. He said success is the progressive realization of worthwhile predetermined personal goals. You may have started fundraising with little experience, but the beauty in this definition of success is that it doesn't matter. Set the right goals and you can get there, no matter your background or experience level. Too many people confuse action with progress and effort with results. Trying hard doesn't guarantee success. Success comes as a result of setting goals, determining your motivation, and the activities that will get you to your desired destination.
