- In the ongoing crusade for nonprofit donations, the level of competition today is astounding. It's a fast paced and often stressful race. That is why a nonprofit's marketing strategy is more important than ever. Once your organization has identified its niche, those elements should become the focus of your outreach strategy. In the for-profit world, you might hear salespeople talk about the concept of first, better, or different. There are six pillars of fundraising. In this lesson, I'm going to focus on establishing an effective position, how your positioning is different from your mission, and how to use your position to appeal to donors. Positioning is the marketing strategy of differentiating your organization in the minds of prospects and donors. In other words, what makes your organization unique?
