Dealing with performance problems

- All teams, even great ones, experience performance issues. We are all busy and humans are imperfect so it's expected that you must address performance problems. To be clear, when I say performance problem, I'm referring to a problematic pattern, not a one-time incident. You see, if you intervene too early, you risk being seen as a micromanager, and if you intervene too late, you risk letting the problem grow and possibly tarnish your reputation. Of course, if an error is particularly damaging maybe it impacts the whole team or a client. Don't wait for a pattern, but normally be patient. So, let's say you see a pattern and want to intervene. Just remember to think about these issues. First, ask yourself if the issue is due to employee ability or motivation. Big issue.
