- [Instructor] The third and, at this point, final type of application you can create using Power Apps is a Power Apps portal. I'd like to do a little timeline of the development of Power Apps, all of which is recent history. When Power Apps was first created, the only type of apps you could create were Canvas apps. We've created two of them in this course. Canvas apps are always connected to a specific data source. And then Microsoft, in collaboration with some other partners, created the Common Data Model. And from it, the Common Data Service, which now is called the Dataverse. And the Dataverse was a game changer because you didn't have to create data sources. You could use your organizational data out of dynamics, for example. You could use organizational data that you customized and that served as the basis for the apps you built.
