Set the right example for new managers

- Leading by example is one of the most important things you can do to help new leaders visualize the roles they need to play. You can tell them all day long about your textbook strategies for overcoming a crisis or dealing with difficult employees, but they'll learn much more from seeing how you handle those kinds of situations. Managers who fail to recognize the impact of their own behaviors and the implications of their daily decisions could be creating a problem. They may be inadvertently modeling poor practices, but when you behave the way you want your new leaders to behave, you'll be teaching them how to lead with real impact. Think of it as indirect coaching. It's incredibly powerful, so you want to be utterly conscious of how your words and actions affect everyone around you.
