- Recent research suggests that in many ways life at work is becoming more challenging. Budgets are tight and workloads and hours continue to go up. The result: people often feel stressed, disconnected, and lonely, and in general feel disengaged. So what you often see at work is a bunch of people suffering from what I think of as terminal seriousness. One big part of the answer is learning to be a better professional, especially if you're a leader. You can and should spend time studying yourself and the properties of great relationships. There are many courses in this library to help you do just that. But there is also at least one simple answer I want you to consider. We need to have a little more fun at work. Yes, fun at work. That's not an oxymoron. You see, this is part of a pervasive myth about work which suggests that at work you're not supposed to have fun.
