Match a moving camera
- One of the most fun tools to apply to live action footage in After Effects is the Track Camera tool. This is an easy to use, yet sophisticated, effect that performs pixel flow analysis to calculate the depth of specific points in the shot. From this cloud of points, it is then able to recreate the motion and angle of the camera that captured the shot in virtual 3D space. Although some might consider it too advanced a tool for a basics course like this, it's designed to be easy to use. Let me show you how it works. You can see that I have my work area, just assigned to this shot. And look at the motion. The camera is tracking to the right and panning to the left, and this gives us a lot of really great 3D information for the Track Camera feature. Now, to invoke this feature, I'm first going to Pre-compose. So I'll choose Layer, Pre-compose. And all this is going to do is organize things for us. So I can rename it, shot 2.…
