- A lot of companies have a policy against moonlighting, meaning you're not allowed to have a job on the side, even if it doesn't directly interfere with your main job. You know, they'd argue that holding down a second job drains you of energy and creativity that would otherwise benefit the company. I once even heard an HR manager who explained why even having a temporary job while you're on vacation is bad for the company. He said "Vacation time is a benefit the company gives you "so that you can relax and recharge, "and that you way you come back to work "ready to be more productive.
