- Every day, leaders are faced with issues that they have to respond to pretty quickly. Some are more serious than others, but all of them require a leadership acumen that has short and long term implications in the workplace. If they're not handled in a timely, respectful, legally compliant, and consistent manner, they can have adverse consequences for the leader individually, as well as for the company. There is never a perfect answer to these scenarios, but here are a few general guidelines that inclusive leaders should keep in mind in all situations. Build trust and create a safe space, always seek first to understand, Suspend judgment, assume positive intent, actively listen, admit that you don't know and want to understand, express thanks for their input.
