- You've likely heard the saying that what gets measured, gets done. This certainly applies to diversity and inclusion. Years ago, I was leading global diversity and inclusion at a major Fortune 500 company and had a lot of goals in my strategy that I had confidence would move the needle. However, I needed additional headcount and funding in order to execute the full strategy. And it would cost well over $1 million. I knew that the only way that I would get approval was to show the results that these goals would achieve. First, I created a dashboard that outlined all of our efforts in the prior year and the impact that they had on the bottom line. Secondly, I calculated the projected financial impact that my current goals would have on the business by year end if I was approved for the budget and staff to accomplish it. Sound familiar?
