The power of appearances
- [Instructor] There's a good reason why Illustrator is number one in vector production in the creative industry. And I don't think it's all of the cool tools and features, although they help. To my mind, it's one panel. It's this one, the Appearance panel. Now, if you are not seeing that in your layout, of course, go to the Window menu to pick that up. But what we're going to do here with this type selected at the top, is we're going to do an exercise that gives you just a small idea of the power of this panel. So we can see here, we have a type, Object, selected. It tells us it's made of characters, because Illustrator deals with them as a separate entity. Let's double click on Characters there, and then we can go down and we can see that it has no stroke and a white fill. Go back up to the top of this list and click Type: No Appearance, and what we're going to do is, we're going to take away the character's fill.…
