- [Instructor] What are the chances of rolling a six-sided die and getting a four? There's only one single four on the die and there are six sides, so you have a one-in-six chance. But what's the probability of choosing a queen from a standard deck of 52 cards? In this case, there's four queens in the deck and the deck has 52 cards. So if you pick only one card at random from the full deck, your chances are four divided by 52, 7.7%. This was easy. We knew there were four winning cards, four queens, and we knew that there were 52 cards in the deck. But sometimes when you're trying to calculate probability in the real world, things are a little bit more complex. For example, suppose we have a group of 10 people in a race.
