- How would you rate your self-confidence when you meet with prospective donors? A lack of confidence in your manner or conversations could raise questions. If you don't fully believe in your purpose or organization, a donor may question if you are being fully transparent. Tennis champion, Arthur Ashe, once said, "One important key to success is self-confidence. An important key to self-confidence is preparation." This is true for most things, and it is certainly true in fundraising. Building your self-confidence is key to building successful relationships with prospects and donors. Why? Because fundraisers often serve as the public face of their organizations and the main point of contact for donors. All fundraisers occasionally feel fear, and that's okay.
