- [Educator] Color is foundational to both visual design and accessibility. By considering accessibility up front when designing with color, we can create a beautiful color palette that we can use with confidence. The most important consideration with accessible color is sufficient color contrast. Color contrast is the measure of the perceived difference between a background color and a foreground color. With any critical visual information, such as text and controls for interactive elements, we need proper color contrast to ensure all sighted users can read and understand what's shown. We can check any foreground and background color combination for proper contrast with a color contrast checking tool. It's important to check for sufficient color contrast from the very beginning of visual design and throughout the product development process.
