As the Vice President of Group/Multi Life Benefits for Penn Mutual, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all aspects of our newly created Group/Multi Life Benefits Operations organization. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role is pivotal with establishing Penn Mutual into the Group/Multi Life Benefit space and creating a service delivery organization from submission to commission.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Lead the strategic direction and execution of both New Business and Inforce Administration functions, aligning with company goals and market opportunities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency, client service delivery, and stakeholder satisfaction.

New Business & Underwriting Functions:

  • Oversee the management and coordination of the new business support team to ensure timely and accurate review, approval, and completion of new business administration and delivery processes.
  • Oversee the management and coordination of the Group/Multi Life Underwriting team and functions, with close coordination across Product & Actuarial.
  • Establish strong relationships with financial professionals, plan sponsors, and key stakeholders to drive engagement and expand market presence.

Inforce Administration Functions:

  • Design and develop administrative policies, workflows, metrics, and dashboards for inforce administration, including billing, policy changes, and inforce transactions.
  • Create and lead a new team dedicated to supporting inforce administration functions, ensuring seamless operations and exceptional service delivery.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Build and mentor high-performing teams across both New Business, Underwriting and Inforce Administration functions, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities and expertise in life insurance products and services.

Operational Excellence:

  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes, streamline operations, and enhance customer satisfaction across all service areas.
  • Drive the adoption of innovative technologies and tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness in new business and inforce administration operations.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including brokers, clients, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities within the multi life benefits market segment.
  • Partner with leadership in Product, Finance, Distribution and IT to ensure cross-functional initiatives and work is carried to a successful execution

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies for both new business and inforce administration functions.
  • Mitigate risks associated with operational activities through proactive risk management strategies and adherence to industry best practices.


Required Skills

  • Solid understanding of the Group/Multi Life Benefit insurance business with a focus on product options, new business and underwriting processes, inforce administration (including billing and policy changes), and client relationship management.
  • Proven leadership experience in driving strategic initiatives, managing teams, and delivering results in a complex organizational environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to improve business outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams.
  • High ethical standards and ability to handle sensitive information.
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and business needs.
  • Assume additional duties as requested



Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, or a related field required. MBA or relevant professional certification preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive experience in the Group/Multi Life Benefit industry, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles within Group/Multi Life benefits.
  • Proven track record in a leadership or senior management role.
  • Experience in strategic planning and project management.
  • Experience building operational teams to support distribution and product strategies.
