Title Examiner

Job Description:

Attorneys' Title Fund Services (The Fund) is seeking an experienced title examiner in the Pensacola, Florida area. In this role you will be responsible for the examination of title records, issuance of title insurance commitments and owner and encumbrance reports.

  • This is a fully remote position, but applicants MUST live in the Pensacola, Florida area, within a one-hour driving radius. *

Essential Functions:

  • Examine title documents filed in the public records and issue a title commitment and/or Owner & Encumbrance report for junior lien customers.
  • Research property tax information on the computer.
  • Research names for bankruptcy, state and federal tax liens and judgment information on the computerized General Index System.
  • Handle customer inquiries regarding title problems.
  • Review documents prior to closing/recording and determine if they are sufficient to cure title defects and are in recordable format.
  • Occasionally enter orders on Title Order Entry System, type Commitments.
  • Ability to read metes and bounds. At a minimum, the ability to work your scheduled office hours, Monday through Friday.
  • Must be dependable and punctual.
  • Ability to work overtime as requested and approved by supervisor.
  • Ability to accept supervision.
  • Ability to foster, develop and maintain professional and collaborative working relationships.
  • Must be able to get along with others, i.e., peers, supervisors, outside customers, and vendors.
  • Ability to obtain necessary log on credentials from Plant Service Providers.
  • Must be personable, positive and a professional representative of the Company.
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of management, employees and customers by email, phone and in person. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge / Skills / Experience:

  • Ideally seeking ten years of experience in title examination.
  • Working knowledge of real estate law.
  • Ability to run simple legal descriptions.
  • Abstracting knowledge is mandatory.
  • Must have ability to review Probates, Divorce and Bankruptcy proceedings in addition to Tax and District Court suits.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills to respond to customer requests.
  • Good organizational skills.

Mental/Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work under pressure with set time restraints.
  • Generally a desk job.
  • Must be able to occasionally work approved and requested overtime by supervisor and adjust to changes in schedule, as required.
  • Must be consistently on time for work each day and have dependable attendance.

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 15 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting a majority of the time. Walking and standing are required, occasionally.
