Our Client, a leader in the renewable energy sector, is seeking a full-time Staff Engineer to join their geotechnical solar team in the Ann Arbor, MI office.
In this role, you will play a vital role in supporting the development of industrial-scale solar energy projects by:
Performing field testing including soil boring logging, sample collection, pile load testing, and electrical resistivity testing. (Most work will be outdoors at sites across the country.)
Conducting laboratory testing to determine soil properties such as California Bearing Ratio (CBR), thermal resistivity, unconfined compressive strength, and particle-size distribution.
Preparing engineering reports by analyzing and interpreting test data, performing calculations, and developing foundation and roadway design recommendations.
To be successful, you will possess the following qualifications and skills:
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and an excellent driving record.
(Preferred) Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
(Preferred) 3-4 years of demonstrated experience in construction engineering.
Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office Suite.
Strong communication (written and verbal) skills.
Excellent prioritization, coordination, and time management skills.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple projects.
Strong attention to detail and ability to read and understand testing specifications.
Physical ability to lift up to 99 lbs, use hand tools, and operate hydraulic equipment.
Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and travel extensively (including overnight stays).
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
(Preferred) Willingness to operate heavy-duty construction equipment.
Ability to work in difficult terrain such as agricultural fields, pastures, and wooded areas.
