Summary: This position is in office and primarily responsible for managing and completing projects, while being taking responsibility for scheduling and budgets and typically participates in the marketing and selling of the project, setting the fees, and negotiating contracts (including change orders and additional services).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Cultivates and maintains direct client contact.
Reviews and understands scope, budgeted hours, and schedule for each project, and ensures they are met.
Identifies areas of concern, works with management to resolve internally or present to client.
Participates in marketing and selling of projects, setting fees, and negotiating contracts.
Determines all structural systems (gravity, lateral, etc…)
Instructs junior staff to ensure all elements are properly designed.
Instructs drafters to ensure all designs are properly drafted.
Coordinates and checks final calculation package for content, completeness, and correctness.
Performs final coordination and checking of drawings to ensure content, quality, and accuracy complies with Innova standards.
Works with management to ensure conformance with project scope and local codes, to review and respond to comments from the client or reviewing agency, and to resolve field issues, RFI responses, NCR Responses, etc.
Assists in training engineers and drafters through field visits and/or in house training.
Ensures proper documentation is obtained and/or prepared for each job.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university.
Masters degree from accredited university or program a plus.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret calculations and drawings from different sources, scientific and technical journals or documents, financial reports, job performance reports, and legal documents
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
Ability to write presentations and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format
Technical Ability:
Ability to work with engineering concepts such as mechanics of materials, concrete, steel, wood, masonry, light gage design, and material sciences
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Continuous Learning Ability:
Willingness to improve technical ability outside office hours to keep with current engineering practice.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:
ADAPT PT
PS Column
ETABS or similar
Bentley Elements
SAP2000 or similar
Microsoft package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) software
Internet software such as Google Earth
Knowledge of programming language
AUTOCAD/REVIT
Database software (a plus)
Ability to learn new software
Certificates and Licenses:
Professional Engineering and/or Structural Engineering licenses
OSHA 10 training will be provided by company
LEED certification is a plus
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise Project Engineers, Junior Engineers, CAD Manager, Designers, and Interns.
