Sr. Engineer - Product Quality

The Sr. Engineer - Product Quality will support the Corporate Quality department and function as a liaison between Manufacturing Plant Quality and Engineering department to drive and deliver “Zero Defects” products and process to our customers. Assure the up-front component designs meet manufacturability and assembly. Also, to support assuring the final product to our customers is nothing short of the “Highest Quality Vehicle in its Class.” The PQE also supports after sales/service group with field issues resolution. This role would be an interface between the DRE, Supplier and KICC AME.

Facilitate cross-functional meetings and workshops to drive DFMEA discussions, gather input from subject matter experts, and ensure alignment on risk mitigation strategies. Develop and maintain DFMEA documentation, including risk priority numbers (RPNs), action plans, and verification activities, to track progress and ensure timely resolution of identified risks. Provide guidance and support to project teams on DFMEA methodology, best practices, and tools to promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

  • Reviews and approves Engineering Change Request (ECR) technical documentation. As a key member in the Checker Review process, the PQE ensures DFMEA, DVP, Technical Specification and engineering assembly documentation meet internal standards for accuracy and completeness, and lessons learned are captured in their documents.
  • Participates in DFMEA and DVP creation/review sessions with Design Engineers (DRE) to provide quality input on risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Attends design reviews to provide quality concern input to all stakeholders supports pre-production vehicle build finals at the plant. Lead as required problem-solving activities.
  • Prepares work order instructions and parts to lead retrofit activities for field issues resolution on Karma fleet vehicles. Tracks and records retrofit work until completeness. Monitor field reports from aftersales/service group to update and track issues identified in the field.
  • Where applicable, leads the development of procedures and quality standards to ensure compliance with applicable standards, legislation, regulations, and best practices.
  • Assists production for quality engineering in development of new measurement techniques and implement changes.
  • Assures Quality targets are met in New Technology applications. Responsible for identification and cascading of program/ project quality requirements, their interpretation (for external requirements) and ensuring that the organization meets or exceeds those requirements.
  • Successful tool use of DFSS and DMAIV methodologies.
  • Maintains the company's Quality Management System; ISO:9001 & 14000 requirements. Support all internal audits relating to job duties.
  • Leads DFMEA activities to identify potential failure modes, assess risks, and develop mitigation strategies throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Collaborates with design engineers, manufacturing teams, and suppliers to review engineering drawings and specifications for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with quality standards.
  • Conducts thorough analysis of engineering designs, components, and systems to anticipate potential failure modes and recommend design improvements or modifications.
  • Collaborates with suppliers and external partners to incorporate DFMEA requirements into supplier quality agreements and ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related.
  • Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering & Engineering Management Desired
  • Certified Design for Six Sigma Black Belt Preferred.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Manager desired.
  • Catia and GD&T knowledge required.
  • 3+ years as a Product Quality Manager in manufacturing.
  • Automotive experience is preferred but not required.
  • Lead line supervisors: Body Shop, Paint Shop, General Assembly and Final Product Audit
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015), as applicable.
  • Travel 20%

Compensation:

$125,000 - 140,000 /annual salary. Compensation will vary DOE.
