The Site Acquisition Specialist plays a vital role in the development of solar energy projects by identifying, evaluating, and securing suitable sites for solar installations. This position requires a combination of skills in real estate, negotiation and project management to navigate the site acquisition process successfully. The Site Acquisition Specialist works closely with the Origination Development Team, landowners, government agencies, and other stakeholders to secure land rights and obtain necessary approvals for project development.

The Site Acquisition Specialist’s day to day responsibilities include:

  • Site Identification: Conduct research and analysis to identify potential sites for solar energy projects. Evaluate various factors including land availability, solar resource potential, proximity to electrical infrastructure, environmental considerations, and zoning regulations.
  • Property Due Diligence: Perform and secure due diligence on potential project sites, including title searches, property ownership verification, easement analysis, and environmental assessments. Identify any legal or physical constraints that may impact site development.
  • Landowner Outreach: Initiate and maintain communication with landowners to discuss potential lease or purchase agreements for solar project development. Negotiate terms and conditions of land agreements, including lease rates, lease duration, land use restrictions, and payment terms.
  • Lease and Purchase Agreements: Draft, review, and negotiate lease and purchase agreements with landowners, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and project specifications. Coordinate with legal counsel and landowners to finalize agreements and execute necessary documentation.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with internal project teams, engineering consultants, utility companies, and other stakeholders to address site-specific requirements and facilitate project development. Provide timely updates and reports on site acquisition progress to project stakeholders.
  • Site Portfolio Management: Maintain accurate records of site acquisition activities, including property information, lease agreements, permits, and correspondence. Develop and maintain a portfolio of potential project sites to support future project development efforts.

These Are Our Education & Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in real estate, business, environmental science, or related field or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in real estate, land acquisition, or site development, preferably in the renewable energy industry.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of real estate law, zoning regulations, land use planning, and environmental permitting processes.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and manage relationships effectively.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and reports related to site assessments and feasibility studies.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools for tracking and reporting.
  • Professional certification (e.g., LEED AP, PMP) related to project management or sustainable development preferred.
  • Familiarity with GIS software, land surveying techniques, and property mapping tools.
  • Strategic thinker with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving skills with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
  • Commitment to environmental sustainability and renewable energy development.
