Enjoy the summer fun at Ellis Park Racing & Gaming! We are currently hiring for a Program Sales Clerk to sell racing programs during our summer thoroughbred race meets. The ideal candidate will enjoy meeting new people and providing customer service to our thousands of patrons this summer. This is a tip-eligible position and will work outside 80-100% of the time.

Expectations:

  • Act as a role model within and outside the gaming and racing facility.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful attitude toward customers and co-workers.
  • Consistently report to work on time and prepared to perform duties of the position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Responsible for selling daily race programs.
  • Monitors program inventory and advises the Marketing Manager on low inventory.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all sensitive information (e.g., guest/player information, financial data, gaming player data, policies and marketing plans)..
  • Be a team player (e.g., work toward team goals and foster a collaborative and positive work environment; put the team first; assist coworkers; treat all coworkers with kindness, courtesy and respect; never engage in negativity; maintain openness to coaching, learning and improving; receptive to change and willingness to embrace challenges with team-spirit).
  • At all times, maintain a courteous, positive, and professional working relationship with all Ellis Park personnel and the general public (e.g., coworkers, clients, and vendors).
  • Work under pressure; maintain regular and punctual attendance, including working odd and unusual hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Licensing & Certification:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid license through the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission (KHRC).

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • The job requires the ability to bend over, crouch/stoop, hear, reach overhead, sit, stand, talk, turn/twist, walk, see and repetitive use of hands 51-100 % of the time.
  • The job requires the ability to push/pull 25-50 lbs. 25-50% of the time and 50+lbs. 51-100% of the time.
  • The job requires the ability to carry 1-25 lbs. 51-100% of the time and 25-50+ lbs. 25-50% of the time.
  • The job requires the ability to lift and slide/transfer 1-25 lbs. 51-100% of the time and 25-50 lbs. 25-50.

Essential Mental Demands:

  • The job requires interpreting data, reading, and writing 51-100% of the time.
  • This job required math and money-counting skills, including collecting money and accurately counting change.
  • The job requires problem solving, organizing, planning and making decisions 25-50% of the time.

Other Requirements:

  • Must provide/maintain a valid driver’s license.
