Acutronic Simulation & Test USA (ASTU) is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Assembler to join our Pittsburgh, PA team. Acutronic’s Simulation & Test Division is the global market leader in the development, design, and manufacture of Inertial Guidance Test Systems and Hardware-In-the-Loop motion simulators. These high-precision motion simulators are used in the aerospace, defense, automotive, and consumer electronics industries to test and calibrate inertial sensors (e.g., gyroscopes and accelerometers that measure movement); Inertial Navigation Systems; stabilized electro-optics; Electronic Stability Control systems; and the in-flight engagement scenarios of missiles. Systems include single- and multi-axis rate tables, flight motion simulators, and target motion simulators. The Division’s U.S.–based team also develops and refurbishes stabilized or gimbaled-platforms utilized in applications such as tracking mounts, gun turrets, and directed-energy systems.

Mechanical Assembler III

Your Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and test complex mechanical systems involving a large number of parts; alignment, and precision tolerance of parts is critical
  • Evaluate the alignments of axes in relation to each other: verify orthogonality and angular displacement measurements through the use of autocollimators, mirror assemblies, electronic indicators, or alignment telescopes
  • The use of lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and other tools to fit and size parts
  • Clean and prepare parts for paint
  • Assist in the packing and shipping of equipment to customers
  • Perform field service functions on equipment, both domestically and internationally
  • Assist Quality Control in the calibration and maintenance of the metrology lab
  • Maintain orderly work area, machines, and equipment
  • Meet budget and schedule requirements
  • Provide feedback to the Engineering Department to reduce production problems

Your Profile/Qualifications/Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical school or machining apprenticeship is desirable
  • At least five years of mechanical experience is required, 10 years of experience preferred
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Required to attend fork truck training and obtain certification
  • Ability to travel up to 10%-15% domestically; occasional international travel may be necessary
  • Redline changes to drawings in assembly binders

  • Work is generally performed in a shop environment
  • Position requires walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, and standing in order to perform job duties
  • Frequent lifting (up to 75 pounds) and moving of heavy parts (weighing up to several tons)
