Summary

A BVSD teacher demonstrates a strong knowledge of the curriculum and content area while positively impacting student achievement through innovative instructional strategies and effectively managing the learning environment. The Math Interventionist will provide intervention instruction to students and help facilitate Data Driven Instruction Meetings (DDI). A BVSD teacher demonstrates a strong knowledge of the curriculum and content area while positively impacting student achievement through innovative instructional strategies and effectively managing the learning environment. The Math Interventionist position requires a commitment to accelerating all students to grade level proficiencies using an in-depth understanding of the theories of mathematics instruction . An interventionist will work closely with other school interventionists, administrators, classroom teachers, parents and their Teacher Leader to support a school-wide systematic approach to increasing student achievement. This position is also responsible for school-wide test coordination including CMAS and ACCESS.

Responsibilities

Math Interventionist-HS

  • Effectively manages the learning environment.
  • Values student diversity and support the unique learning needs of each individual student.
  • Exhibits a growth mindset through participation in high quality professional learning.
  • Conducts screening/diagnostic assessments in reading and writing.
  • Implement math instruction/interventions focused on identified outcomes.
  • Conducts ongoing progress monitoring assessments for each student and enters student data into an online data management system on a regular basis.
  • Coordinates the logistics for math instruction for students performing below/above grade level in math and facilitate data sharing meetings.
  • Works closely and collaboratively with Administrators, General Education Teachers, English Language Development Teachers, and Special Education Teachers, sharing responsibility for individual targeted or intensive instruction.
  • Communicates regularly with parents.
  • Support implementation of data driven instruction as part of the school improvement work.
  • Support the work of educators to improve their effectiveness at closing the achievement gap and improving outcomes for students across the district.
  • Encourage, coach, and monitor data driven instruction in collaboration with the Principal.
  • Support the network teams to connect with schools.
  • Identify best practices to increase data driven instruction for teachers.
  • Meet and plan with teachers to promote data driven instruction.
  • Attend and/or plan professional development activities.
  • Work with district supervisors and school improvement teams to assist in accomplishing goals, objectives, and activities indicated on Unified Improvement Plan (UIP).
  • Work with content area and classroom teachers to research and develop related standards based classroom assessments and communicate information aligned to the strategic plan.
  • Builds internal capacity of school personnel and school leadership teams to become effective users of data.
  • Assist school with analyzing summative school data and plan for improvement using strengths and opportunities.
  • Assist teachers and administrators with using formative assessment data in classroom instruction.
  • Organize, oversee and manage school-wide testing like CMAS and ACCESS testing.

Teacher-Math

  • Facilitate learning experiences and teaches the course of study as outlined by the District approved curriculum; utilizes innovative and differentiated instructional strategies to meet individual needs and motivate students; and plans and develops an engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom using the approved District instructional model and adhering to state and school district curriculum guidelines.
  • Utilize a Data Driven Instruction and Inquiry (DDI) model to systematically improve student learning; assess student proficiency using formal and informal assessment tools; differentiate assessments based on individual needs; provide timely feedback and targeted interventions; plan and consistently deliver instruction that draws on results of student assessments; anticipate student misconceptions and plan lessons accordingly; report grades.
  • Create and foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment in which all students see themselves represented in the classroom and understand the behavioral expectations; implements procedures and routines that maximize student learning; respond to student misconduct in a respectful manner using restorative practices; actively seek a variety of perspectives; demonstrate mutual respect for peers and adults in a variety of contexts; and communicate and involve parent/guardians in all aspects of their child’s education.
  • Create and support a culture of equity and inclusion that values, accepts, and understands diversity and the impact of culturally responsive practices.
  • Understand and identify barriers in classroom instructional practices that contribute to disproportionate outcomes for underrepresented groups of students.
  • Develop positive relationships with parents/families; encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents; provide proactive, clear and constructive feedback to families about student progress and work collaboratively with the families and significant adults in the lives of their students; and foster two way communication with families.
  • Exhibit a growth mindset through participation in high quality professional learning; actively participate in the evaluation process through goal setting, reflection, and development of new strategies and techniques.
  • Participate in reflective dialogue with colleagues, focused on student learning, to enhance student learning and utilize shared values and norms to facilitate discussions in which all participants have a voice and contribute to the common goal.
  • Collaborate with special education, CLDE, and GT teachers to provide meaningful inclusion and/or extension opportunities for students.
  • Act ethically and professionally in personal conduct, relationships with others, decision-making, and collaboration; place children at the center of education and accept responsibility for each student’s academic success and well being.
  • Supervise students in the classroom, halls, recess, before/after school duty, etc.; and enforce safety and security standards set by the District.
  • Follow State legal requirements, negotiated agreement, and District and building policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Currently hold a Colorado teaching license or have licensure application in process with appropriate endorsement in a Elementary Education, or have licensure application in process with appropriate endorsement, or willingness to acquire endorsement as: Secondary Math (7-12) (must upload license or in process documentation to application)
  • Minimum of three years experience working with student data analysis
  • Communicate (read, write and speak) in English
  • Completed and submitted BVSD online application

Preferred

  • Bilingual Spanish/English
  • Understanding of practices and protocols used to support Data Driven Instruction (DDI)
  • Diagnostic and prescriptive skills in math.
  • Experience with MTSS/RTI structures including interim assessments, targeted instruction and progress monitoring.
  • Experience with linguistically diverse and other diverse learners.
  • Highly skilled at using digital resources.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in self-directed activities, work collaboratively, and take initiative to complete tasks.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with administrators, teachers, specialists, and parents, both verbally and in writing.
  • Skilled in group facilitation, coordination, and leadership.

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
