ROLE SUMMARY:
The Logistics Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the logistics department by performing a variety of tasks and administrative duties. This position acts as a liaison between logistics, inventory, and production, ensuring smooth operations and efficient inventory management.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A LOGISTICS ASSISTANT CAN LOOK LIKE:
Radio Communication: Answering radio calls and taking appropriate actions to address operational needs
Picklist Management: Generating and updating picklists to facilitate accurate order fulfillment and inventory replenishment
Shipping and Receiving: Managing the receipt and shipment of both Open Stock and Finished Goods to maintain inventory accuracy and meet customer demands
Month-End Support: Assisting the Materials Manager with month-end closing activities to ensure accurate financial reporting
Documentation Handling: Organizing and filing shipping/receiving documentation in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements
Inventory Audits: Supporting the inventory team during fiscal year-end physical counts to verify inventory accuracy and reconcile discrepancies
Compliance Adherence: Following all SQF procedures and policies while operating within SQF-compliant facilities and ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures
FIFO Tracking: Implementing and monitoring First in First out (FIFO) inventory management practices for both Open Stock and Finished Goods
Collaborative Problem-Solving: Working collaboratively with customer service and inventory control to obtain disposition for rejected components and assist with quality tasks when needed
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED required; College degree preferred
Logistics experience in a warehouse/manufacturing environment is preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook
Experience with inventory systems; familiarity with Nulogy and SAP is a plus
Understanding of MRP functionality is helpful but not required
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make quick and accurate decisions
High practical learning skills and the ability to multi-task
