Your Role on the Team

The Hunt lab is located on the Health Sciences campus at UC Irvine and equipped with state-of-the-art research facilities. UC Irvine is a world-class research university with highly ranked graduate programs in neuroscience and biological sciences. Our Southern California location is home to one of the largest academic research and biotechnology hubs in the US. Lab members enjoy direct access to this outstanding community of neuroscientists and clinicians as well as the wide range of recreational activities available in our region. Successful candidates will join an interdisciplinary and collaborative team working to develop the next generation of tools and technologies to treat disorders of brain development and injury.

This full-time position is to contribute to our studies on nervous system development and injury. Primary job responsibilities will include work with mouse models, animal surgeries, behavior assays, immunostaining, assist with electrophysiology or calcium imaging experiments and data analysis. Other responsibilities may include assisting with maintenance, differentiation and characterization of induced pluripotent stem cell lines, viral vectors, gene editing and reprogramming in cell lines and other molecular biology approaches and/or laboratory management (e.g., animal colonies, protocols). The ideal candidate will have previous research experience in an area of neuroscience relevant to our lab interests.

Required

  • BS, MS or equivalent degree in Biology, Neuroscience or a related field

Special Conditions

  • Some weekend work is required (e.g., for training animals for behavior)

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $19.69- $22.82 (Hourly).
