What You'll Be Doing The Fire Services Division is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fire Services Training Manager to join our dedicated team. This role is crucial in ensuring our fire personnel are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform their duties safely and effectively. The Fire Services Training Manager will also oversee the "Career in a Year" Fire Academy Program, aimed at training and developing the next generation of fire service professionals. About Our Team
Wake County Fire Services operates under the control of Wake County Government with three separate divisions. The Fire Prevention and Response Division provides fire code enforcement and response assistance as requested in the county. The Emergency Management Division is responsible for all hazards planning for the county as well as radiological protection planning for the Harris Nuclear Plant. The Operations Division provides oversight and operational coordination for all fire departments, supply chain management and training for the county. Our function is to ensure our partner agencies receive quality service and response. Our focus areas for this position include providing leadership, guidance and supervision to the full-time, part-time and temp staff at the fire training center and to the Wake County Fire Recruits during our "Career in a Year" Fire Academies. Maintaining the Wake County Fire Training center and developing and preparing training programs to train new and existing personnel in psychomotor, cognitive and affective techniques required to perform emergency response activities, fire suppression, rescue, and prevention.
Required
The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
Associate's degree in Fire, Emergency Management, Business Administration or related field
Seven years of experience in fire service
Fire Instructor Level II
Qualified Fire Instructor
NC Firefighter Certification
Hazardous Materials Operations Certification
National Incident Management System and Incident Command System 100, 200, 700 and 800 training
Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)
Bachelors degree in Fire, Emergency Management, Business Administration or related field
Three years of experience in fire service training
