Position Overview

Primary Purpose Of Position

Reporting to the Head of Bibliographic, Metadata, and Discovery Services, the Electronic and Open Educational Resources Librarian is responsible for the activation, management, assessment and documentation of electronic resources for F.D. Bluford Library. This position also works closely with faculty to provide leadership with efforts promoting discovery, adoption and implementation of electronic Open Educational Resources such as open access journals and open textbooks.

In support of Library Services’ information literacy and library instruction programs, this position will also serve as a liaison to an assigned academic department providing information literacy and library instruction in virtual and in-person classroom settings and by developing and maintaining supplemental instructional resources such as subject guides.

This is a twelve-month, tenure-track assistant professor position.

Primary Function Of Organizational Unit

The mission of F. D. Bluford Library is to support and advance teaching, learning, and research at N.C. A&T through user-focused services, technologies, and physical and virtual learning spaces. We ensure individuals have access to globally trusted information resources that equip them with the knowledge to provide solutions to society’s challenges.

The library serves nearly 13,500 students, over 650 faculty, and the residents of the Piedmont Triad region. The library is a select depository for federal and state publications. Open 24 hours a day, library users have access to over a million print and electronic resources, technology-enhanced group study rooms, over 200 computer workstations, wireless access throughout the building, mobile Internet devices, and archives that document the history of the University, and the region.

Minimum Requirements

  • A Master’s degree (M.L.I.S. or M.L.S.) from an ALA -accredited Library Science Program
  • Experience working with electronic resources in an academic research library setting
  • Experience with a Library Services Platform ( LSP )
  • Knowledge of electronic resource management tools, standards and initiatives, such as SUSHI and COUNTER
  • Knowledge of e-resource authentication systems and proxy services.
  • Knowledge of current models, practices, and tools used by academic libraries for the acquisition and management of e-resources
  • Knowledge of open educational resources and open access resources
