We are hiring an Education Team Lead to join our team to serve as sales process team leader, leading sales support representatives and dealers, and acting as a coach and mentor. Collaborates with assigned leadership on performance management and delivering on Impact Coaching processes with direct reporting relationships. Assists in the integration of new salespeople in the area sales office and region (as required) and forecasts area staffing and corporate level support requirements.



What You Will Be Doing:

Achieve sales targets for assigned region within category/vertical market. Leverage the broad view of the marketplace to develop strategies on major accounts and opportunities and identifies the needed resources to execute on those sales strategies. Maintain a tight connection on major opportunities to provide a resource boost and win business. Set the strategic direction for the assigned category/vertical market and establish the priorities from a category/vertical market perspective. Ensures sales strategy and direction are in alignment with regional leader and regional sales manager.


Plans and oversees sales activities of team members, including:


  • Number and quality of sales leads generated
  • Implementation and execution of approved sales programs
  • Project leadership
  • Operating expense/selling cost/pricing discount management
  • Number of dollars of orders specified by A&D firms in the area, as well as specifications for specific products that are agreed to with area sales leadership relative to plan.


Planned Sales Volume – forecasts and is responsible for meeting plan for overall dealer and/or customer orders shipped, as well as order volume shipped for specific products or market segments.


Sales Relationships – responsible for developing strong relationships with, and coaching and supporting team members with, dealers and accounts, A&D firms, major institutions, key and target customers, and other influencers such as construction, real estate and owner representatives.


Dealer Network Strength – assists in the development and implementation of strategies and plans to strengthen the distribution network and dealers’ capabilities to effectively achieve Steelcase’s short and long-term sales/market objectives.


Actively engaged in the sales process and provides support and coaching as needed to win business.


Drive the sales strategy. Seen as a leader and trusted partner to clients and dealer partners. Expert level of understanding the role and how to win consistently.


Drive and lead account strategies. Lead and empower full account team and dealer partners for ongoing account activity.


Creates and leads strategies that win business. Owns leadership on pricing, escalation, dealer alignment and resources to win the project.


Trusted partner for insights and options. Leads negotiations, promote and execute Continuing Agreements. Create client need for future projects. Always differentiates Steelcase.


Leads strategy and aligns team for success. Become a trusted partner for workplace insights and options. Lead negotiations, promote and execute continuing agreements.


Consistently provides significant growth in number of opportunities identified by firm as YOY growth to achieve regional objectives.


Finds viable opportunities in the market through network. Manage team direction through opportunity strategy and Steelcase resources to win the project.


Leverage multiple pricing strategies to win with minimal leader oversight. Utilizes strategic pricing methods and resources to achieve price points.


Strategic committee or event leadership in development of market events, networking groups, internally and with the dealer to stimulate sales activity and win business.


Orchestrate all parts of the strategy and implementation of engagements. Be an expert on how to involve strategic team members and resources to maximize impact.


Your Future Team:

Area sales office, work life center, with travel to various dealers and corporate offices.

Steelcase, Dealer and customer office sites. Amount of travel required depends upon geographic and customer account locations.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Demonstrated management ability in a sales environment
  • High degree of initiative in managing self and others
  • Understands sales processes and comfortable working independently and collaboratively with all internal team members and external stakeholders – customers, A+D, and dealers.
  • Team with dealers to offer value to priority account sales strategies, activities and events.
  • Keep abreast of best practices, trends and innovative sales and consumer engagement approaches.
  • Gather information on competitors and their product strengths and weaknesses channeling the information to Product, Marketing and Sales Management
  • Continually learn and effectively position Steelcase advantages; product attributes, services, research, and insights
  • Create and lead meaningful engagements to grow and win Steelcase business. Examples include showroom tours, mock-up presentations, and annual business reviews with assigned accounts for owned projects.
  • Collaborate with dealer partners, product marketing, and Steelcase Pricing and Contracts team to develop winning product and pricing strategies.
  • Ability to be sensitive to dealers’ business needs and concerns
  • Financial understanding, project planning and work management ability
  • Ability to implement corporate and area sales objectives
  • Collaborate and maintain business activity through Salesforce CRM


Preferred Skills and Competencies

Broad and comprehensive knowledge of the furniture industry, Steelcase business/sales philosophy is a plus

Expert knowledge of education products is a plus
