The Director of Professional Development will provide leadership, strategy and hands-on support on the creation and execution of interactive training programs and the development of associates throughout the Corporate Department. This role will report to the firm’s Chief Professional Development Officer.
Responsibilities
- Oversee Corporate Training team and training initiatives for the Corporate Department, including:
- M&A
- Private Funds
- Finance
- Capital Markets
- Intellectual Property
- Develop and assist with firm-wide programming/conferences, including:
- Develop and implement new skill development initiatives across departments and offices.
- Assist with New Associate Orientation, Midlevel Associate Conference, Senior Associate Conference, and New Partner Orientation.
- Collaborate London office teammate to ensure coordination throughout all Corporate offices.
- Assist with individual lawyer growth and development, including:
- Lateral associate integration and development.
- Coaching and training tied to mentoring initiatives.
- Oversee firm’s immediate feedback initiative.
- Collaborate with various departments throughout the firm, including:
- PD&T team members to develop programs and workshops.
- Inclusion and Legal Personnel to develop and assist mentorship initiatives.
- Legal Personnel and Pro Bono to encourage opportunities, track experiences and develop programming.
- IT, graphic design and audio/visual professionals to deliver programming that is engaging and efficient.
- Events department to ensure flawless program execution.
Requirements
- 10+ years of development experience, preferably in a global law firm.
- J.D. degree preferable.
- Familiar with and conversant in associate growth and development issues in law practice.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills, both written and oral, including strong attention to detail in all written work.
- Kind, thoughtful person with a desire to effectively (and positively) work with attorneys and business professionals throughout the firm.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently, as well as collaborate with others and work well in a team.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment with a client service orientation.
