We are currently seeking a Director of Gaming Operations to lead the successful operation of the Gaming Department, ensuring our guests have an exceptional gaming experience.

Ellis Park Racing & Gaming operates electronic gaming machines (Ainsworth, IGT, Aristocrat, etc.) that offer a guest experience similar to traditional gaming machines; however, the results of each spin are determined by historical horse racing technology (HHR). The ideal candidate for Director of Gaming Operations would have experience operating a slot floor or similar network-based gaming operation with a capacity of 300 or greater machines in a facility offering a similar entertainment experience (dining, sportsbook, etc). This is an exciting opportunity for a gaming leader to work in a new and rapidly growing segment of the gaming industry in one of the CDI's HHR facilities.

Summary

The Director of Gaming Operations is responsible for demonstrating knowledge of all aspects of HHR operation, a thorough understanding of all gaming regulations related to gaming operations, floor coverage and gaming floor analysis, and a complete understanding of management and operations of a gaming facility. Additionally, they must have the ability to plan, organize, direct, and coordinate gaming operations in the casino, as well as develop gaming policies for areas under their responsibility.

Specific Duties And Responsibilities

• Oversees the hiring, training, performance management, and corrective action processes for the Gaming Operations Department.
• Reviews and manages the department’s financial results.
• Approves large jackpots above levels authorized for subordinates as set out in the SOP.
• Review staffing levels to maintain an appropriate level of employment.
• Property point of contact on all communications, projects, and initiatives that involve HHR regulators and HRM hardware and software manufacturers.
• Delegates duties and assigns responsibilities.
• Development of team members, interviews, hiring, and evaluations.
• Directs and manages gaming equipment conversions, placement, and repair.
• Reviews gaming activities and promotional statuses with the Sr. Director of Gaming Ops.
• Monitors and adjusts performance for both the gaming floor in comparison with local competition and optimal gaming mix and pricing strategy.
• Meets with departmental directors and managers as necessary.
• Ensures compliance with all gaming regulations, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and the property’s BSA Policy.
• Monitors for suspicious activity as defined by the BSA and the property’s BSA Policy.

Education, Training, And Experience

• Seven to ten years of experience with operations and management in a multi-device 24-hour gaming operation.
• Four-year degree in related fields or equivalent work experience is preferred.
• Significant experience and expertise in collecting, organizing, evaluating, and presenting Gaming Performance Data.
• Prior experience with Slot Machines, Historical Horse Racing Systems, or similar experience with network systems is a plus.
• Experience using Aristocrat Oasis Accounting System a plus.
• Ability to obtain a Kentucky Gaming and Racing License.
