Summary
Job Description:
The Dean’s Office in the School of International Service seeks a highly motivated student to serve as a part-time Front Desk Assistant. The assistant will greet the Dean’s guests, assist visitors, answer the main telephone line as needed, and help with organizing the Suite and maintaining supplies to ensure a highly professional environment. This position reports to the Director of Administration, Special Assistant to the Dean. 4 students will be hired into this role.
Educational Requirements
Sophomore (AY 24-25), preferably with the School of International Service.
Excellent customer service skills.
Detail-oriented and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to interact appropriately with visitors to the Dean’s Suite: faculty, staff, high level visitors, students, current and prospective AU family guests.
Discretion and good judgment are essential.
Preferred Requirements
Previous customer service experience or working at another AU campus front desk.
Students who hold a Federal Work Study (FWS) award are strongly encouraged to apply.
Additional Information
The Dean’s Suite is open five days a week from 9 am to 5 pm. Up to four selected candidates will work 2-3 hour shifts each on agreed days (approximately 6-9 hours per week each). The final schedule will depend on availability and Front Desk coverage needs.
Target start date by August 26, 2024, preferably before.
