Greensburg Academic Affairs

Pitt Greensburg is part of an Economic Mobility initiative to increase young adults ages 14 to 24 years old (especially those of low-income in Westmoreland and Allegheny counties) access to college-ready, career-related, and leadership development activities starting in middle school, postsecondary education, and extending support for students beyond college

graduation.

The Engagement Manager will work with University and community stakeholders to build our capacity to expand afterschool, beyond school, and beyond the classroom experiences as well as postsecondary and career planning, career-related experiential learning, and leadership development.

The Engagement Manager will work with an Engagement Coordinator to:

  • Strengthen and expand community and school district partnerships;
  • Increase existing supports and establish new services for students as they navigate enrollment, persistence, and completion of postsecondary education;
  • Expand upon activities to ease the transition to college for first-year students admitted conditionally;
  • Expand first-year experience to sophomores and juniors;
  • Create mentoring relationships between high school and college students;
  • Engage parents in workshops that help them to understand students’ experiences in postsecondary education;
  • Track results to ensure goal attainment and recommend appropriate adjustments to strategies;
  • Assist with grant and stewardship reporting;
  • Pursue ongoing support to sustain programming;
  • Work with media relations to promote and recap program activities
  • Assist with dual enrollment financial literacy workshops;
  • Assist with community engagement/stakeholder committee.

The employee will be required to supervise summer camp/academy activities.

The employee will supervise the Engagement Coordinator.

This position is grant-funded and will be in place for the life of the grant.

Essential Functions

The Community Engagement Manager must be able to use a computer and keyboard and be able to use video communication technology (Zoom, Teams, etc.). Work is frequently conducted by email, telephone, in person, or using video communication technology. The ability to communicate in a clear and concise fashion is essential as the manager will have regular contact with high-level administrators in school districts. A high level of attention to detail is imperative. Proficiency in online design and visual communication platforms software

is a plus.

Physical Effort

The position is primarily sedentary, however there will be walking to attend on-campus events and driving to frequently attend off-campus events. Employee may need to lift 10-25 pounds.
