Job Description
The Coordinator I – Child Care will plan, develop, and implement program directives and goals at multiple childcare sites in conjunction with YMCA of San Diego County and Community Care Licensing. Supervise and evaluate staff, and act as a contributing member of the branch and department YMCA team. The Childcare Coordinator I is responsible for maintaining staff files and compliance of standards at all sites. Qualifications
Must be 21 or older
High School Diploma or GED
One or more of the following:
Completion, with passing grades, of 15-semester units in Child Development (CD) or related field including: 3 units in CD/ECE or related field, 3 units in child growth and development, 3 units in child, family and community, 3 units in program/curriculum and 3 units in Administration of Child Care Programs. AA or BA in Child Development is highly desirable
“Related fields” can include: Arts, Early Childhood Education, Education, Humanities, Physical Education, Psychology, Recreation, Sociology, and Theater)
Completion, with passing grades, of the 12 units with 3 more units of current enrollment in Administration of Child Care Programs will be considered
AA or higher degree in CD or ECE
Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or higher
Minimum of 1 year experience supervising school age program site required
Knowledge of Community Support Service resources preferred
Event management experience, including vendor communications and staff appreciation
Experience with Y branding, marketing, and Y SharePoint preferred
Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act in an emergency situation
Physical ability to lead activities such as sports, games, academic assistance, assemblies, transitions, and other program activities.
CPR/AED and First Aid, must include both Adult & Child/Infant, certified within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
American Red Cross
American Heart Association
American Safety & Health Institute
Essential Functions
Communicate with school personnel and parents to maintain positive public relations, and ensure receipt of pertinent information
Provide leadership in establishing a positive environment in which youth and families are treated with respect and dignity
Perform frequent site visits to ensure quality, implementing necessary changes and taking corrective action when necessary
Assist in supervising and evaluating staff, youth leaders and program volunteers
Attend all required regional and countywide meetings, in-services and trainings
Promptness, dependability and professionalism during assignments
Remain informed on current child care programs in order to relay information to families
