JOB GOAL

Responsible for leadership in providing high quality childcare and instructionn in a childcare setting, adhering to ADHS and Quality First, codes and statutues. Responsible for the management and administrative duties associated with running a high-quality childcare center. Applicants must have good oral and written communication skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. is required, CDA is preferred
  • Level 1 Fingerprint card required
  • TB skin test within the past 12 months
  • First Aid/CPR preferred
  • Food Handler preferred
  • At least 6 month experience with children 0-5 yrs. old in a licensed setting
  • Evidence of leadership

Requirements At Entry

Must be at least 21 years of age and have one of the 4 options;

  • 24 months of childcare experience, HS diploma or GED AND either 6 hrs. in ECE/closely related field or 60 hours in workshops in ECE/closely related field and 12 hours in administration
  • 18 months childcare experience AND a NAC, CDA or CCP credential with 24 hours including at least 6 hrs.in ECE/closely related field.
  • 6 months childcare experience AND an AA in ECE or a closely related field
  • 3 months childcare experience AND a BA in ECE/closely related field

Additional Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Level 1 Fingerprint card

  • CPR/First Aid certified
  • Food Handlers card
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office preferred.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Develops, plans, and prepares for staffing needs to ensure the daily operation of the center
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the childcare center and manage staff.
  • Covering classrooms and attending to children’s needs (i.e., filling in as a substitute teacher)
  • 2. Maintain a safe workplace by monitoring children for health, behavioral, and social emotional issues and reporting concerns to staff and parents according to outlined procedures.
  • Maintains high quality childcare standards based on developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Covering for the nurse by taking temperatures, administering medications, and other related activities;
  • Ensure custodial duties such as cleaning, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and trash removal of classrooms all areas maintained to high standards of cleanliness.
  • Covering custodial responsibilities when needed. (i.e., laundry, cleaning up accidents, setting up and taking down playground equipment, etc.).
  • Working with parents and maintain effective communication to help children progress towards educational and behavioral goals.
  • Represents the center in a professional, courteous, and positive manner.
  • Complete ongoing training and courses to remain up to date on daycare standards and procedures.
  • Develops, plans and prepares developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned to AZ state standards.
  • Maintains supplies inventory and orders supplies when needed
  • Supports Team Leads as they write developmentally appropriate lesson plans
  • Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by state licensing, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Oversees compliance with files and/or records: hiring of staff, billing, student cumulative files, immunization records, attendance records, and other related student information such as; work orders, requisitions, meal applications, purchase orders, state tax credit logs, fire drills, time sheets, professional development requests, update the state immunization data report, and other related files and/or records.
  • Maintains a variety of files and/or processes a variety of information and/or paperwork, which may include: DES and ADHS licensing requirements, hiring packets, class lists, student withdrawals and transfers, Kronos and other related information and/or paperwork; prepares related reports.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Cooperates with the administration in planning and/or participating in appropriate in-service training programs at a school or at the district level.
  • Shares responsibility during the school day for the supervision of all students in all areas of the school.
  • Supervises all areas of the site to ensure a safe, happy, and stimulating environment for children
  • Continues professional growth and attends required trainings through attendance of in person or virtual professional development.
  • Demonstrates awareness of Governing Board policies and State Statutes related to job responsibilities.
  • Implements curriculum in a way that is consistent with the unique needs of each child.
  • Supervises and leads children in all daily activities, including playtime, centers, small groups, mealtime, rest time, and outdoor activities.

  • Develops, plans, and prepares instructional aids/material for classroom activities.
  • Complies with annual state licensing requirements and Quality First Best practices.
  • Directs activities of the staff in the classroom to ensure that the classroom functions in an orderly manner.
  • Cultivates positive relationships with families and team members.
  • Promotes a positive, caring climate for learning for staff, students, and parents.
  • Ensures that appearance, cleanliness and safe environment of the classroom are appropriately maintained.
  • Ensures appropriate communication with parents and teammates.
  • Maintains open, consistent, timely and effective communication with parents, providing assistance when needed.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bending, carrying up to 40 pounds, lifting, pushing/pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, walking.

REPORTS TO: Director of Early Childhood

LOCATION: Cartwright Employee Childcare

SUPERVISES: All childcare staff (Lead teachers, assistants, custodial)

CALENDAR: 12-months; Position Hours: 10hrs./ day
