The Great American Trucking Division is looking for an officer level dynamic person to lead our six-person business development group as well grow and manage our $30m captive book. This position will manage a national territory and have responsibility for sales growth of our Captive and Traditional Trucking Product offerings. The person hired for this position can work remotely or from a Great American office location and must be able to travel at least 30-50% of the time including overnight travel. A successful candidate will have experience in alternative markets including but not limited to single parent and group captives.


Responsibilities:


Captive Management

  • Grow and manage current captive book
  • Organize and conduct captive meetings
  • Review captive financials


Business Developer Leadership

  • Management of Regional Business Development & Production Underwriting resources
  • Develops a productive agency plant/territory, including:
  • Developing a marketing plan for assigned territory
  • Prospecting and managing agency relationships to achieve production and profitability objectives.
  • Acts as a liaison between company and producer in solving problems.
  • Markets and provides strategic training on company products and services to existing and prospective agencies.
  • Responsible for building and maintaining effective business relationships with internal and external customers/coworkers in order to attract and retain profitable business.
  • Responsible for profit-oriented risk selection/rejection and pricing decisions within designated authority on complex to significantly complex multi-line risks.
  • Identifies opportunities for and may spearhead development of new business and/or programs.
  • Responsibility for performance and coaching of staff and may have a participatory role in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management for direct reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree is preferred, and a minimum of 8-10 years of related underwriting and business development experience is required.
  • Transportation and Captive related experience are preferred.
  • Experience managing and directing business developers who call on insurance agencies is required.
  • Strong analytical skills, excel expertise, and financial acumen are also required.
  • Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation and organizational skills
