The Team:
Mattel’s Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) Team is responsible for driving best-in-class strategic and creative thought leadership in the development and execution of best-in-class global marketing campaigns, activations and assets that consistently communicate the distinct and powerful identity of the Mattel IP across all internal and external touchpoints.

The Opportunity:
We are looking for an Associate Account Manager to join a multi-disciplined account team across traditional and digital account services and creative strategy across multiple lines of business. This department operates like an in-house agency and this role would be specifically supporting the Dolls Portfolio outside of Barbie; including but not limited to Monster High, Polly Pocket, Disney Princess and many exciting new launches. The Dolls team is a group of passionate, creative, innovative people who thrive on a challenge launching all new products, campaigns and content to appeal to the ever-changing interests of kids today. Highly conceptual, this team delivers global assets for brand campaigns, demand creation video, social, live events, retail and more! This position will work directly with the Global Brand Team and Marketing Department and all Agency departments to fulfill highly effective marketing campaigns in any and all media while ensuring the project is completed on time and within budget.

What Your Impact Will Be

Account Management – 80%

  • Lead development of brand tentpoles that consist of cross-category promotions, collaborations, and activations. This includes leading development of brand guides for global use.
  • Lead IMC status meetings to track project progress in collaboration with Project Management to ensure clear communication on all projects.
  • Upon approval of Communications Plan, collaborate with Project Management on developing a workflow and resource plan to deliver, which includes consistent communication with Marketing, Production, and any relevant centers of excellence required to deliver on time and on budget.
  • Lead reviews and approval of asset creation to Marketing, from presentation of concepts through production, including retail and merch guides, demand creation videos, galleries, live events, graphics/logos, etc.
  • Support IMC Account Lead in driving end-to-end strategic and project support across all integrated marketing communications as the catalyst to inspire and unlock breakthrough work.
  • Support Account Lead in development of Communications plans, coordinating with IMC cross-functional team and Marketing, that deliver on business and brand goals.
  • Participate in Brand 360 meetings to represent IMC Pod, sharing brand and project updates, collaborating and contributing to cross-functional projects, and bringing back relevant information to the rest of the IMC team.
  • Support Account Lead in aligning with Marketing, Project Management, and Production team on annual and seasonal scopes of work and production budgets, including monitoring scope and budget throughout the lifecycle of the project, reporting any updates to the team, as needed.
  • Demonstrate initiative and the ability to anticipate problems and opportunities; be seen as an expert Campaign and Project Leader
  • Ability to manage workload, accomplish tasks and manage others. Supervise and mentor Assistant Account Executives & interns as appropriate
  • Proactively monitor and analyze competitive marketing communications, sharing with the cross-functional team through real-time ‘hot takes’ and bi-annual presentations with actionable takeaways.
  • Participate in on-site event/activations/productions as required by programming
  • Preserve and foster IMC’s culture and maintain a positive and forward-thinking attitude

Communications Strategy 20%:
  • Initiate internal brainstorm and ideation sprints, in collaboration with relevant cross-functional partners, that yield actionable ideas to pursue.
  • Provide a strategic lens and ensure all deliverables meet brand standards.
  • Support the director in brand strategy assignments.

What We’re Looking For

  • BA or BS degree in Advertising, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Have 5-7 years of advertising/marketing experience
  • Have experience presenting both orally and in writing
  • Are able to build good rapport with team and clients
  • Consider yourself a digital native
  • Are strategically inquisitive and inclined

The annual base salary range for this position is between $94,400.00 and $130,000.00.

  • This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
