The Area Director is responsible for the operations and supervision of the IDD Center, programs, and services. The Director is responsible for promoting excellence in services by providing guidance, coaching, and oversight in daily operations. The Director performs administrative and managerial work with staff, other agencies, community organizations, consumers/families, and the public. The Director ensures that all services are delivered in compliance with Home and Community Based Services (HCS) and Texas Home Living Principles and Community Standards (TxHmL). The Director also ensures the team provides high quality services by utilizing evidence-based techniques when applicable and works with the Director of IDD Operations to meet agency, state, and federal guidelines.

The Area Director exercises independent judgement in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and requires the ability to multi-task. This position requires excellent organization and communication skills.

Leadership

  • Provide flexibility in supervisory strategies based upon the needs and preferences of staff, to include modeling in the field, shadowing, and other in-person supervision.
  • Develop strategies for integration into existing systems of program operations.
  • Represent HCMHDDC in learning opportunities as needed.
  • React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.

Team Management And Development

  • Provide professional leadership in organizing, administering, supervising, and evaluating the effective delivery of services across the program.
  • Utilize HCMHDD systems to evaluate the skill, experience, and professional development needs of all staff. Conduct one on one meetings with staff to provide feedback, develop goals and expectations.
  • Instill a sense of accountability among team members by modeling oversight of individual and organizational performance standards.
  • Conduct interviews, new hire selections and orientation with on-the-job training.
  • Ensures training with all program staff is complete and current.
  • Develop an atmosphere of respect, interest and enthusiasm in the services provided.
  • Recognize and encourage outstanding performance by persons within the program.
  • Maintain open communication with HR and Director of IDD Services regarding staffing and employee conduct.

Program Operational Management

  • Must be available to provide programmatic, direct care, and other duties as assigned when staff vacancies arise.
  • Ensures that documentation standards are consistently met by all staff supervised.
  • Ensures staff are utilizing the Electronic Health Record system for all billing and documentation, within the required timeframes.
  • Ensures that all performance contract requirements are met.
  • Maintains a proactive knowledge of requirements and guidelines set by the state and federal governments.
  • Coordinates with IDD Director of Provider Services to develop strategic plans that include revenue goals.
  • Ensure a safe, productive, and positive work environment.

You’ll Definitely Need

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • One (1) additional year of the indicated experience may be substituted for one (1) year of the required education. Maximum substitution, four (4) years
  • Valid Texas State Driver’s License
  • Current Automobile Insurance

  • Maintains comprehensive documentation that meets or exceeds Texas Health and Human Services Commission standards.
  • Ensure 95% of all documentation is entered within 24 hours.
  • Comply with HIPPA laws and ensure the protection of all confidential client information.
  • Comply with all HCMHDDC policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with Director of IDD Provider Operations to provide the highest quality work environment, and staff supports possible.
  • Work closely with Quality Management/Utilization Management to ensure an open, ongoing Constant Quality Improvement (CQI) structure.
  • Available for on-call after hours and on weekends
  • Travel as required for service delivery and professional development.
  • Driving company or personal vehicle as required for service delivery and professional development.

  • Requires flexibility in schedule and travel.

We Can Pay You

$48,000/annually with benefits eligibility plus good karma for doing good in the world.
