Follow up action is important. By using the feedback and Q&A’s from the session, presenters should share a summative/reflective piece with next steps. During presentations, some guests may get distracted, may not have access to stable WiFi connection, or may have a hard time concentrating. By following up with a summary or sharing your slide deck/resources with next steps- you are welcoming your audience into your professional learning community- offering the opportunity to build and sustain relationships- support systems with attendees.

In my experience, when considering accessibility and equity in platforms, Microsoft Teams is one of the best platforms to use for an educational webinar. It allows for closed captioning to be translated into the preferred language of the attendees, the Immersive Reader can be used in the chat box to translate text. You can present using PowerPoint Live and have attendees access your slide deck in real time! This is by far the definition of an inclusive webinar and global experience.

If you are considering becoming a consultant, first reflect on what brings you joy! The art of consulting is being able to present content, applications, and products in a way where it inspires others to explore and relate to what you are presenting. The only way to do that, is by constituting on topics that you are passionate about! Remember your why! Why are passionate about this topic? Why should others want to learn from you? And how does what you are presenting reflect the interests of your audience? Consulting for me is all about spreading joy in education and reminding others of why it is important for be culturally responsive.
