Helping Andres, Gloria, Rachel, and WestRock Company find their perfect agency was smooth sailing. The biggest takeaway from this search has nothing to do with the search itself. It's about relationships and the long game. Many many moons ago, while working at an agency, my old pal Brenda got me in to Georgia-Pacific as a vendor, and eventually introduced me to Gloria, who eventually introduced me to Rachel. The circle of life if you will. This was all set into motion roughly a decade a go, maybe longer. You should...no -- you MUST play the long game with relationships. People do business with those that they like, know, trust. The older we all get and the more established in our careers we become, the bigger the stakes become. When the stakes are bigger, trust is even more important. Long term thinking > short term gain always and forever.

💜 Hue. has been awarded a $150K equity-free grant from the Google for Startups Founders Fund! 🎉 Funding Black founders is crucial, here’s why ⬇ I recently spoke with a founder—let’s call him David—who needed fundraising advice. David’s startup is gaining traction, and he’s been advised to raise a #friendsandfamilyround to boost product development. Sadly, he feels discouraged. David is the first in his family to graduate college, and at 21, he earned more than anyone else in his family in his entry-level job. Now in their late twenties, him and his friends are still in their growth era and don’t have extra cash to invest. David feels stuck. 🚫 His network can’t fund his venture, and he has too little traction to raise a formal round. Buyers are like investors. They're not just buying your product—they're betting on your brand. So how do you prove you're worth the risk? In my years of getting brands in market, I've found every successful pitch needs to demonstrate what I call the Retail Resume™: 1. Credibility: Why should they trust YOU to deliver? This isn't just about your product. It's about your story, your expertise, and your track record. 2. Capability: Can you consistently produce and deliver? Buyers need to know you won't leave them high and dry. 3. Cash: Do you have the financial runway to support growth? Or at least the potential to generate significant cash flow? These three C's should be woven into every touchpoint with the buyer: your pitch deck, your website, even your email signature. Remember: You're not just selling a product. You're selling confidence in your brand's future.
