    Education

Science in the News is a graduate student run organization at Harvard University that works to communicate current scientific research to the general public. As Editor in Chief for the Science in the News blog (previously "Signal to Noise"), I managed teams of writers, editors, and graphic designers to prepare articles on current scientific research for publication on the Science in the News website (http://sitn.hms.harvard.edu/). • Minisymposium on Reproducibility

Many individual PIs, funders, publishers, and companies are working to make research results more reproducible and they have come up with many creative tools and techniques to do so. These include best lab practices enforced by responsible PIs, electronic notebooks, reagent sharing and storage in repositories, public sharing of code, and much more. At this minisymposium we discussed many of the tools available to researchers and got some insight into how researchers, funders, and publishers are…

  • Blogging for Beginners Workshop

    - Present

In this workshop, I teach attendees that basics of starting, maintaining, and tracking the progress of a blog using what I've learned while managing the Science in the News and Addgene Blogs.

  • Addgene Protocol Videos

    - Present

I work with my fellow Addgene coworkers including a media production specialist, graphic designer, and Addgene scientists to produce YouTube videos that demonstrate basic molecular biology protocols. One of our first protocol videos (Plate Pouring - https://youtu.be/ey19jM6y7-c) has over 33,000 views as of June 2018.

  • The Addgene Fluorescent Protein eBook

    -

The Addgene Fluorescent Protein eBook introduces researchers to the basics and applications of fluorescent proteins in biological research. I worked with researchers inside and outside of Addgene to write, edit, and organize content for this eBook. In addition, I worked with a graphic designer and others at Addgene to create graphics and the layout for the eBook. Finally, I worked with additional members of the Addgene Outreach team to promote and distribute this free eBook to interested researchers (and future researchers). This is just one of Addgene's eBooks. Others include CRISPR 101 (https://info.addgene.org/download-addgenes-ebook-crispr-101-2nd-edition) and Plasmids 101 (https://info.addgene.org/download-addgenes-ebook-plasmids-101-3rd-edition) both of which I played similar roles in updating.
