Hump Day Wisdom Monday is not to Blame I have heard so many people blaming their bad attitudes, negative circumstances and misfortunes on the fact that the day of the week is Monday. I am in Lubbock, Texas this week conducting a Game Changer Program. When we were at dinner Monday evening, I heard a waitress greeting her customers by asking, “how is your day going?” Every one of them, no joke, no exaggeration, every one of them complained about something. The waitress then blamed all of the negative events and circumstances that her customers were communicating to her on the fact that today is Monday. Monday has often gotten the blame from people abdicating their personal responsibility for all of the negative things that happened to them on Monday. Monday happens to be the beginning of the traditional work week and because so many people hate their jobs and others hate to go to work, they dread Monday and they blame Monday for their negative experiences. Conversely, they love Friday, because Friday traditionally identifies the end of the work week and the start of the weekend, so they say, TGIF (Thank God it’s Friday). I have some really bad news for those of you that have a bad attitude towards Monday, every week will begin with a Monday. With that awareness it sounds like there is some predictability in your future regarding Monday. I love Mondays. I also love my job and the work I am blessed to do every day. Many of you that know me have heard me say many times for many years, TGIM (Thank God it’s Monday). I am grateful for Monday. I do not blame any misfortune I may be experiencing on Monday because no matter what happens, Monday did not create what happened. I know you have said TGIF many times and that is cool, I also love Friday, however, I invite you today to help me honor Monday. I get to live and love on Monday. I get to go to work on Monday, TGIM. I get to start a new work week. I get to take care of myself and my family, TGIM. TGIM my friend, Thank God it’s Monday. Go out and make every future Monday the best Monday you have ever experienced, because how you treat Monday will set the tone for your entire week. “Not Over”
