What skills do you need to become a successful healthcare strategist?
Listening skills, especially as Stephen Covey says, “listening for understanding” are vital to becoming an excellent healthcare strategist. In order to devise a firm strategy, one must consider all angles and speak to those closest to the work and the problem, in the “gemba”.

How can you align human services professionals and physicians to achieve the same goals?
When process improvement decisions are being considered, make sure that all parties whom the proposed improvement could affect, have a seat and a voice at the table. If it isn't possible with the current platform, make the table bigger. Embrace different perspectives. Establish ground rules that encourage participation and create an atmosphere of psychological safety where one can raise their hand and say, " I came across this barrier" or "I made this mistake" and want others to avoid this pitfall by doing x. Encourage solution-based conversations based on perspective and solutions, not blame. Once solutions and goals have been established, communicate them clearly and consistently to all team members.
