Everest unsuccessfully. After his latest failed expedition he declared that the mountain was not getting any bigger but he was increasing every day. That is the attitude of an overcomer and achiever. Setbacks and difficulties are just more bits of data to formulate a successful plan of attack. Thomas Edison has famously utilized "a lot" of different items for his light bulb intil hd found the right one. Fortunately for us he preserved otherwise we could still be sitting in the dark..... Day after day, I have opportunities to increase my resolve and determination, many times I'm able to capitalize on them. However, there are also times that I don't which creates a mixed bag of progress. That was the question that the Speaker posed to his audience. Was it their training- No. Was it their diet- No. The age they started playing- No. Their coaches- No. None of those things was the difference maker. Actually it was their thinking in those 10 to 15 seconds after a point was scored on them. Those athletes that were able to maintain positive thoughts during that critical time performed better. Not just because of that but their breathing and heart rate was slower so they were conserving crucial energy also. So there was less drain on them and they stayed sharper thru the entire match. Same principles can apply to each us. How many people carry something "bad" from the morning into the rest of the day and waste time telling everyone about it. News flash- it doesn't help any no one cares.... Be like a duck and let it roll off the your back. Too often we let negative emotions cloud or influence our thoughts and actions.
