Here's how you can foster connections with new team members.
Open communication is important. However, many people claim to have an "open door policy," but may find it challenging to be readily available at all times. This can give the impression that you aren't staying true to you word, regardless of actual circumstance. Therefore, rather than telling them that you have an open communication policy, it's best to show them over their first few weeks. Your new employees are your most important, and prioritizing them about all else will show them that your organization values open communication.

Welcoming new team members is essential, it's important to make an immediate and positive impact on someone who is starting with your organization. Best tips for how to make that impact? Ask your current employees what could have been done differently when they joined. How might they have felt *even* more welcomed on their first day or their first week. This is not an exercise in "should have" or "course correction," but is rather an opportunity to learn from your current staff.
