    As a passionate believer in taking care of our environment and natural resources, I take part in the Spring Lake Aquacorps volunteer scuba diver program in San Marcos, Texas.     As a citizen scientist for Reef.org I conduct underwater surveys of coral reefs and oceanic life throughout the Caribbean and report on native fish populations as well as the health of the overall reef system. This requires an in-depth knowledge of the species native to various regions, as well as specific scuba diving and safety skills. The data from reports by citizen scientists is used by the NOAA as well as a variety of resource agencies and researchers in monitoring reef conditions and…
