⭐ Employee Spotlight! ⭐ Please join me in welcoming Hannah Hunter to the Actalent team! Hannah joined the team earlier this month and is supporting our Quincy, MA office! What’s stuck out to you/ impressed you in the interview process? In my interview process I was extremely happy I was able to have a half day at the Quincy office. I was impressed by the team meetings tracking the progress of each employee’s assigned jobs, and the overall office dynamic. The Quincy team, recruiter (Christina Sokolowski), and Ryan Kalil provided extensive support in answering all my questions about the recruiting role, and Actalent which helped me decide this is somewhere I wanted to be. What are you most excited about? I am most excited about starting a career in recruiting, and being a part of Actalent’s overall company growth. I am thrilled to start at Actalent with a 13 week training program, so I am set up for success and can fulfill all of my responsibilities. What advice would you give someone considering a career in recruiting? Some key advice I would give someone considering a career in recruiting is to be able to work in a fast- paced, competitive environment where you have many responsibilities (sourcing, screening, servicing). It’s important to understand that if something falls through with your current recruiting path that you must move forward, and not let this bring you down. Also, it’s important to know you will be communicating with many people (making phone calls, writing emails, 1 on 1 greets), and networking throughout your daily career so having strong people skills, and drive to communicate is key for your individual success. I recently did some "Resume Myth Busting" with our interns, and I thought I would share some of the takeaways:   1. We can no longer have ONE resume: UGH I KNOW but when applying for roles make your resume relevant to the job for which you're applying. If you're qualified and interested in an opportunity, show off your skills, abilities, and experiences! 📃   2. KEEP IT SIMPLE: Don't make it difficult for the recruiter to find the information they're looking for, say it loud, say it proud. 📣   3. Be clear: Never assume that the recruiter knows what you did in your role. Spell it out and use the job description as your guide. For my artsy friends, if you worked on a show or production, don't just state the show title, explain what you did to get the standing ovation! 🎬   4. Interests: What you do on your personal time is personal, no need to add it to your resume. 🏝   5. Format: Unless you're Jane Auston, use bullet points! Clearly state measurable achievements and use date ranges. (MM/YYYY-MM/YYYY)   6. Will the original robots please stand up: Here at Disney, recruiters are reviewing resumes, not bots. Only use keywords if they apply to your past work experiences. 🤖   7. Hand me my bifocals would you: Don't feel like you have to use a 5. font to get all your experiences on one page. If you have relevant information that will help you land the job (over the past decade) go to page two, but I would stop there.   8. Connections make the world go round: If you have references, that's great, but if we need them, we will ask!   9. What's on the inside is what counts: I bet your headshot is absolute fire but no need to add it to your resume. 🔥   10. Pause then submit: If you're using a template, I get it, work smart, not hard but please proof your work. Make sure all the {fill in here's} are filled in. Before hitting submit, make it a PDF, and please know which file you've uploaded and be sure it's the one that you've worked so hard on. ⏸   Just some of my opinions but no matter who you ask about resumes, they will have something different to say.
