Here's how you can cultivate the key qualities that make a leader influential in their field.
Over the course of my 30 year career, I have focused on building good Karma relationships. I start adding value as soon as I can, even if there does not appear to be a reciprocal value that the other person can add at that time. This principle has paid dividends beyond my wildest expectations. Plus, it’s just the right thing to do. Pay it forward. Be kind. Be a good person. Good things will happen.

How do you write a catchy and relevant headline for a newsletter or article?
Feeling stumped? Not sure your headline is all that great? Turn to ChatGPT or a similar AI assistant. Prompt the AI with something like this: "Provide several catchy headlines for a blog post on XYZ. Here are a couple headlines I've already come up with, but I don't think they are catchy enough: [paste your headlines here]." You might be surprised what the AI comes up with. It could be that one of them is worth testing as is. Or, you may find that mixing and matching (and finessing) may produce something worth trying. AI like ChatGPT, Reword, and QuillBot can be helpful aids when it comes to content creation. At my marketing and PR firm, we are using AI more and more to stimulate ideas as a springboard in the creative process.

How do you update your digital marketing portfolio as your skills grow?
Here are some ways to create more engagement: 1. Offer a free consultation. Link to a digital questionnaire for the interested party to complete prior to booking 20 minutes with you using your Schedule Once or Calendly booking system. 2. Provide a free guide or webinar playback -- something so irresistible that they are willing to provide their name and email information in order to access the item. Then add them to your drip email sequence and work to nurture the relationship over time.

What are the best times and days to send a pitch to a journalist?
Always be extra available when you send a pitch. If a journalist does respond to your story idea and want to speak to you or one of your clients, imagine how frustrated they will be if you are not prompt in responding to their positive interest. Offer your cell # in your pitch and let them know that it's ok to text or call you "after hours" - it's a busy, digital world and they, like many of us, may be working remotely and around family/personal time. Finally, follow the Golden Rule. Would YOU want to be on the receiving end of that email, DM, text or call? Cast yourself into their space and try to be of service first and foremost. Answer the "so what?" question in your subject line and teaser/preview verbiage. Get right to the point.
