    The US Chess Center provides quality chess instruction to students in the DC public schools and surrounding communities. David Mehler launched the Chess Center in 1992 with the support of World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov. We have honored several inspiring chessplayers including Grandmaster Maurice Ashley and Phiona Mutesi, the star of the Disney film "Queen of Katwe."
