🗳️ Prepare for the August 13th Primaries in Minnesota: Key Information and Resources🗳️ Hey, Minnesota Family! The August 13th primaries for the DFL and GOP are approaching, and it's time to get prepared. Here’s a primer on what you need to know to make your voice heard. *It is especially important this year to vote, and protest voting counts! In primaries, this can show an incumbent that they need to focus on certain issues if a more leftist or right-wing candidate challenges the incumbents seat and gets a significant amount of the votes. In the general election (Nov 4th), your protest votes can count towards getting third parties to be more established and if they get upwards 5% of the vote in the general election, they can get funding for running their campaigns.* 1. Review and Utilize Sample Ballots Familiarize yourself with the candidates and issues before heading to the polls by reviewing sample ballots. You can make your selections in advance and bring the sample ballot with you to the polling center to help you remember your choices during the voting process. Preregistration for under 18s If you are under the age of 18, 16-17 year olds can preregister to vote, so that on your 18th birthday you are automatically enrolled to vote! Only individuals who present citizenship documentation, such as a U.S. birth certificate or U.S. passport, will be registered to vote. 5.
