Together, we have made progress against our DEI goals to level the playing field so that everyone feels respected, supported, and valued in the workplace. Do not drop Equity from DEI. Please be advised that Black and brown people will have negative experiences in the workplace from the decision made by a leading human resource management organization that dropped "Equity" from its DEI approach. As the CEO of RIBBA, I wanted to share my thoughts on a significant shift in the DEI landscape. SHRM recently announced that it will drop "Equity" from its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) approach. Equity is a critical component of DEI, as it ensures everyone has access to the same opportunities and is treated fairly. Removing equity from the equation risks overlooking systemic barriers and disparities that affect marginalized groups. As a strong advocate for DEI, I believe it is essential to keep equity at the forefront of our efforts. Don't give up now! Be bold and push back on those who want to dismantle the work done to level the playing field. We can't value all of our workers without "Equity," essential to achieving inclusion and fostering diverse environments where everyone feels valued and supported. Let's continue to push for a comprehensive DEI approach that includes equity. It's not just about bringing diverse individuals to the table but ensuring everyone has a fair chance to succeed once they're there. I'd love to hear from you.
